Court Bars Sylva’s Loyalists From APC Leadership Positions

The Bayelsa State High Court sitting in Sagbama has placed an injunction on aides of the former governor of Bayelsa State Timipre Sylva, from parading themselves as party leaders pending the determination of the “motion of Notice” served to them.

The Court also restrained them from taking steps to set up any Disciplinary Committee to entertain allegations against Timipa Orunimighe, the chairman of APC in Bayelsa and Daniel Marlin, the parties Secretary.

Orunimighe and Timipre Sylva had been in a running battle over the allegation of grafts in the appointments of the present minister of State for Agriculture, Heineken Lokpobri.

As obtained in the ruling of the suit with number YHC/6/2016, the presiding judge, E.G Omukoro restrained  the defendants namely Mr Joseph Fafi, Mr Tonye Okio, Mr Fortune Parnebi and Mr Alabo Martins from ‘Interfering or stopping the claimants from functioning in their respective offices as Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary of the All Progressives Congress pending the determination of the motion on notice’

A statement signed in Abuja on Tuesday by the chairman of APC in Bayelsa state also said Ex Parte Injunctions also bars the defendants from both establishing a disciplinary panel to investigate the ongoing crises and function in the capacities of the claimants.
