ABUJA, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze and approved the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries following the discovery of another illegal entity operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
The directives followed a briefing presented to State House correspondents on Friday, August 21, 2026, by the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu.
Discovery of the Unauthorized Agency
Briefing reporters at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the ICPC Chairman identified the newly uncovered entity as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office:
- Unauthorized Location: The illegal entity was allocated office space directly within the SGF complex without executive approval or statutory authorization.
- Alleged Promoter: The anti-graft agency named Prince George Buchi Nwabueze as the primary promoter of the unauthorized office, alleging that internal collaborators facilitated its setup.
- Expansion of Ongoing Probe: The discovery emerged during broader investigations into procedural vulnerabilities following the exposure of the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Presidential Directives and Suspensions
Following the ICPC report, President Tinubu issued several directives aimed at addressing administrative vulnerabilities:
- Immediate Arrest: Security agencies were instructed to arrest and detain Prince George Buchi Nwabueze.
- Suspension of Permanent Secretaries: Three senior administrative officials were suspended pending further investigation:
- M. S. Danjuma
- Engr. Nadungu Gagare
- Richard P. Pheelangwah
- System-Wide Forensic Audit: The President directed a forensic evaluation of administrative procedures and payroll allocations (IPPIS) across ministries, departments, and agencies to identify potential ghost entities.
Wider Investigations
The National Brands Development Office marks the fourth unapproved entity identified by the ICPC during its investigation into administrative lapses within civil service structures.
The commission affirmed that detailed investigations remain ongoing, with the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Ministry of Finance overseeing internal review mechanisms.
