Osumoghu Community in Ihiala local government area of Anambra state has called for more deployment of men of the Agunechemba Security Squad to their area in order to have complete liberation of the Town from the string hold of gunmen.
This demand is on the account of the discovery of about 14 Camps of gunmen in the area by the operatives of the Agunechemba Security Squad.
This also gainst reports that men of the Agunechemba Security Squad stormed some Communities in Orumba North and South local government areas, the outfit has stated that there was no such operations noting that the last operation took place in Osumoghu in Ihiala local government area of Anambra state.
However, residents of Orsumoghu expressed their appreciation for the successful operation carried out by Agunechemba, stating that they have regained trust in the State Homeland Security team.
They noted that the operation, which involved retrieving military equipment from local criminals, was one of Agunechemba’s most triumphant endeavors.
This success has instilled hope that as the threat from unknown gunmen diminishes, more residents will feel safe enough to return to their homes.
According to the Publicity Secretary of Agunechemba Security Squad Comerade Nweke Nweke, the dislodging of the gunmen and recovery of two General Purpose Machine Guns GPMGs and rocket launchers was at Osumoghu in Ihiala local government area and not in Orumba South local government area.
While some Orsumoghu residents commended the state security team for effectively tackling crime that had persisted for over six years crediting Agunechemba for this success others raised concerns that without adequate government funding for Agunechemba’s initiatives, recovering military equipment from offenders could become increasingly challenging.
“It is important to emphasize that the incidents took place in Orsumoghu, part of the Ihiala Local Government Area, not in Orumba North or South. The operatives of Agunechemba played a vital role in displacing criminals and seizing military materials”. Agunechemba media boss added.
An Orsumoghu prominent individual, under the condition of anonymous, urged the public to reject earlier media reports that incorrectly attributed the incidents to other local government areas rather than Orsumoghu, Ihiala Local Government Area. He confirmed that Agunechemba’s actions liberated the Orsumoghu community, which had been under the control of armed men.
“We were taken aback to find that the events in Orsumoghu were misreported as occurring in other Local Government Areas in the State. I call on the public to dismiss those media claims and recognize that this incident has freed Orsumoghu residents who were held captive by gunmen for over four years.” Anonymous Orsumoghu Citizen stated
