ABUJA — Popular commentator, General Asabuja, has publicly questioned prominent Christian clerics, including the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and the Serving Overseer of The Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, over their perceived silence regarding the worsening security situation and banditry across Nigeria.
In a viral statement shared on his social media platform, Asabuja accused top religious leaders of applying double standards in their public commentary on governance and national security issues.
He pointedly questioned why the clerics have not maintained the same vocal stance against the current wave of banditry and widespread insecurity as they did during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
“Why can’t Adeboye and Tunde Bakare be vocal and preach against banditry and insecurities ravaging this country like they did during our brother Goodluck Ebelechukwu Jonathan’s regime?” Asabuja wrote, accusing some faith leaders of political bias and selective activism.
The comments have sparked intense debate across online platforms, reigniting discussions over the role of religious leaders in speaking truth to power and holding successive political administrations accountable to the public on security and governance.
