OWERRI — Popular online activist and social commentator, Gabriel Asabuja (popularly known as General Asabuja), has openly berated high-profile nightlife entrepreneurs Obinna Iyiegbu (Obi Cubana) and Pascal Okechukwu (Cubana Chief Priest) over their public subservience and political alignment with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a viral video address reacting to recent political engagements and campaign rallies organized under the “City Boy Movement” banner in the South-East, Asabuja expressed deep shame over what he described as prominent Igbo business elites groveling before the President’s son as if he were an elected public official.
“I am ashamed of Cubana Chief Priest and Obi Cubana for worshipping Seyi Tinubu as if he is the President of Nigeria,” Asabuja stated, questioning the moral authority and integrity of South-East leaders who align themselves with the ruling political class while ordinary citizens face severe economic hardship.
The scathing comments follow widespread public pushback across social media over Obi Cubana’s recent appointment as the South-East Director of the City Boy Movement—a pro-Tinubu political group patronized by Seyi Tinubu—and Cubana Chief Priest’s public pledge to mobilize branded vehicles and campaign logistics for the President’s re-election bid.
Critics like Asabuja argue that wealthy figures in the South-East are prioritizing personal political patronage and business access over the pressing socio-economic concerns, insecurity, and political grievances of the region.
Neither Obi Cubana, Cubana Chief Priest, nor representatives of Seyi Tinubu have issued an official response to Asabuja’s statements at the time of publication.
