AWKA, NIGERIA — The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved major development projects and welfare policies under its “Solution 2.0” agenda. Chaired by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo at the Light House in Awka, the council finalized plans to boost infrastructure, improve student welfare, and increase access to justice across the state.
Key Decisions And Infrastructure Projects
- Funding For Tech Infrastructure: The state government approved the release of ₦551,911,205.81 for external engineering works at the permanent site of the Solution Innovation District (SID) in Awka. The contract, awarded to Bigxent Technologies, aims to create jobs and support young tech innovators and startups.
- New Student Hostels: In response to housing challenges faced by students living off-campus, the government is partnering with private investors. New campus accommodations will be developed using a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model to ensure safe and affordable housing.
- The Soludozie Anambra Programme: This initiative introduces a Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) model. It aims to mobilize wealthy citizens and community leaders across all 179 towns in Anambra to collaborate with the government on building roads, schools, and health centers.
Enhancing Public Justice and Grievance Channels
The administration also rolled out initiatives designed to protect citizen rights and resolve daily public complaints effectively:
- Public Accountability Boost: The government has upgraded its Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) to resolve disputes over human rights and public service delivery between citizens and the state.
- Small Claims Courts Expansion: ANSEC ordered an aggressive public awareness campaign for Small Claims Courts. These specialized courts are set up to handle civil financial disputes quickly and cheaply without requiring expensive lawyers, protecting low-income earners and small businesses.
