Fresh fears are being entertained among residents of Ifite Awka Village over alleged plot by suspected gunmen to establish camps at the area where the four Fulani herders were killed last two days 

Security reports have it that the attack was a ploy to scare away visitors to the bush in a bid towards establishing new camps in the area.

The residents recall that that was the format that miscreants use to take over Communities with the aide  of local criminals in the area.

The area which shares boundaries with Awka North local government area where there has been reports about the operations of gunmen in some villages in the area.

To this end,youths at Ifite Awka have stormed the Ifite Agu – Awka  in a manhunt for the suspected gunmen.

This is coming as Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra state have sent fresh mandate to Traditional Rulers and President Generals of Communities to take charge of security architecture in their areas in conjunction with the local security operatives and Local government Mayors of the 21 Council Areas.

It was gathered that as early as 5 am some youths in the area had stormed the bushes in search of both the gunmen and cattle that were missing on the account of the incident.

In their company are hunters who are currently assisting them in the manhunt and as at time of this report .

Chief Press Secretary to Soludo Mr Christian Aburime in a chat with reporters confirmed the fresh task to Traditional Rulers and President Generals of Communities in the state.

“We have a government that is people oriented and that is the government of Prof Charles Soludo who is a man that loves the people and at home with the ordinary people and feels those pains with them “

“As a government we see this as a very unfortunate situation and the Police and other relevant security agencies should be on top of it now” .

He noted that Traditional Rulers and President Generals of Communities are the first point of contact when you talk about security of lives and property adding that the Governor reiterates his charge to security stakeholders in the Communities to take control of security in their homes .

He however dismissed possible sabotage by some people against the security in the state .

“The issue of sabotage against security in Anambra state cannot be ruled out and that could just to maling the efforts of government but I cannot categorically tell you that it is an act of sabotage so we have to wait for investigations of security agencies before drawing conclusions’

“We have Agunechemba Security Squad that is working and people have been commending Mr Governor about the improved security situation in Anambra state”.

“We have good security architecture in place and I can tell you that this could just one isolated incident which every necessary things that need to be done would be done in that regard”

“It is very simple and the Governor has always said that security is everybody’s business and when it happens it affects everyone irrespective of class or position.

“The President Generals and Traditional Rulers are the first point of security chief of their community and should be able to ensure that there is no security breach in their respective localities”

“If you see something, say something and these people doing these things are human beings and they leave in the localities and people should be able to know them “

“They should avail us with intelligence report and that will help us fish them out and your identity would always be protected ” he said.
