ABUJA — Members of the Obidient Lawyers Forum, led by activist legal practitioner Barrister Okere Kingdom Nnamdi, have instituted a fundamental human rights lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, alleging growing security threats to Labour Party leader Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential campaign cycle.

Addressing a press conference following the legal filing, Barrister Okere warned the administration of President Bola Tinubu and federal security agencies against taking Obi’s physical safety for granted, invoking the unresolved 2006 political assassination of Lagos governorship candidate, Engineer Funsho Williams.

The suit, brought under Fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules, names President Bola Tinubu, the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, and state executives as respondents:
