ASABA, NIGERIA — A major security breakthrough has been recorded in Delta State following the successful arrest of a notorious kidnap kingpin, Abubakar Usman, who has been terrorizing local communities from his deep forest hideouts.
However, celebrated human rights activist and security tracker, Harrison Gwamnishu, has warned that the battle is far from over, revealing that remnants of Usman’s armed syndicate are still at large, heavily armed, and actively disguising themselves as nomadic cow herders to evade state security loops.
Armed Syndicate Regrouping In Delta Forests
While the arrest of Abubakar Usman marks a significant milestone in the state’s anti-kidnapping campaign, intelligence reports indicate that his dangerous foot soldiers have scattered into neighboring wilderness areas. The remaining gang members are reportedly in possession of high-caliber guns and ammunition, with plans to regroup and launch fresh abduction raids on unsuspecting commuters and rural residents.
To blend in and avoid immediate suspicion by joint security patrols, the fleeing criminals have adopted a tactical cover, moving across rural corridors alongside cattle herds.
“While the arrest of Abubakar Usman is a significant breakthrough, members of his gang are still at large,” Harrison Gwamnishu warned in an urgent security advisory. “Intelligence suggests they remain armed with guns and ammunition and may attempt to regroup and plan further kidnapping activities. The remaining gang members disguised themselves as cow herders. They move with cows.”
Six Vulnerable Communities Placed On Red Alert
In light of the impending security threats, residents across six key communities in the Aniocha and Ika axes of Delta State have been strongly advised to escalate their vigilance and report any unusual faces within their localities.
| Security Watchlist | Communities Under Immediate Surveillance Post-Arrest |
| Primary Danger Zones | Ogwashi-Uku, Ubulu-Unor, and Ubulu-Uku. |
| Secondary Transit Corridors | Igbodo, Ute-Ogbeje, and Obior. |
| Enemy Modus Operandi | Posing as peaceful cattle herders while concealing firearms and operational gear. |
| Public Action Required | Immediate profiling and reporting of unfamiliar herder groups to nearest base. |
Security experts note that these targeted agrarian communities feature dense forest borders that make them highly attractive as operational launching pads for criminal syndicates looking to retreat from active military pressure.
Call For Timely Intelligence
Local community leaders and youth vigilante groups are currently being mobilized to work hand-in-hand with the Nigeria Police Force and military attachments stationed in the state.
Citizens have been strictly warned not to confront any suspicious herder clusters independently due to the high probability of them being heavily armed. Instead, the public is urged to leverage timely information sharing, noting that swift reports to formal security channels remain the most effective tool to completely dismantle the remnants of Abubakar Usman’s broken network before they can strike again.
