ILORIN — A heartbreaking account of ultimate sacrifice and unimaginable cruelty has emerged from Kwara State, confirming the brutal murder of Mrs. Rachael Omole, the wife of an Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) minister, inside a terrorist forest camp.
Omole, whose husband, Pastor Sunday Omole, is the minister-in-charge of the ECWA Church in Omugo, Ifelodun Local Government Area, was executed by her captors despite her family paying a ₦20 million ransom alongside extensive food and logistics supplies.
The tragic news was brought to light by an escapee who recently fled the terrorists’ enclave and informed the grieving family of the horrific torture and eventual killing of the pastor’s wife.
A Heroic Act Leads to Captivity
The nightmare began on March 22, 2026, when heavily armed terrorists breached the security perimeters of the Omugo community and violently invaded the ECWA church during a worship service. As the congregation scattered in panic to escape the gunfire, a terrified mother inadvertently left her baby behind in the sanctuary.
Noticing the helpless infant amidst the chaos, Rachael Omole chose to risk her own life to save the child. She picked up the baby, strapped the infant securely to her back, and attempted to escape the building. However, the delay allowed the pursuing terrorists to catch up with her, and she was abducted along with the infant.
While marching the captives through the dense forest, the terrorists realized the crying infant was slowing down their movement. They subsequently abandoned the baby, alongside two elderly captives who could not keep pace with the forced march, leaving them to be recovered later.

Exorbitant Demands and the Failure of Ransom Delivery
Following the abduction, the terrorist syndicate established contact with Pastor Sunday Omole and placed an astronomical ransom demand of ₦1 billion for his wife’s release.
After intense and desperate pleas from the family and the church community, the kidnappers agreed to lower their demands. The family successfully raised and delivered ₦20 million in cash to the gang’s forest emissaries. Additionally, the family met a grueling logistics demand, supplying the terrorists with ten 50kg bags of rice, 50 liters of palm oil, 200 liters of petrol, and multiple cartons of pain-relief medications.
Despite receiving these substantial provisions, the syndicate refused to release Rachael. Instead, they escalated their extortion, demanding an additional ₦200 million cash payout, a medium-sized Mikano power generator, and further logistics supplies.
Brutal End in the Enclave
Unable to fulfill the new multi-million Naira demands, the family was left in an agonising state of suspense until a few days ago, when a fellow captive managed to escape the forest stronghold.
The survivor delivered the grim news to the Omole family, detailing the severe torture, degradation, and unimaginable cruelty Rachael was subjected to by the armed group before she was eventually martyred.
The Kwara State Police Command and regional security task forces have been urged by Christian bodies and civic leaders to launch immediate retaliatory sweeps into the Ifelodun forests to neutralize the syndicate and recover her remains.
