ABUJA, Nigeria — The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched a homicide investigation after Blessing Moshood, a 29-year-old Sociology graduate of Kogi State University, was found murdered in a Jikwoyi, Abuja canal last Thursday night, May 21, 2026.
Disappearance and Discovery
According to her sister, Abigail, Blessing left home around 8:00 PM after receiving a phone call. She briefly called back to say she was returning to retrieve a charger but never arrived. Following the discovery of a body matching her description, police recovered the deceased—who was partially clothed, wearing only a top—and moved it to a mortuary in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, where relatives confirmed her identity.
Community Response and Police Investigation
Neighbors described the Second Class Upper graduate as intelligent and highly respected. Residents are now demanding increased security in the area due to rising crime.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a full forensic inquiry to track down the killers.
