Frontline House of Representatives aspirant for Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Amb. Ikebunwa Lotanna, has warmly welcomed business mogul and political leader, Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, into the party following his official defection to the NDC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Reacting to the development, Lotanna described Chief Onunkwo’s decision to join the NDC as “timely, courageous, and patriotic,” stating that the movement represents the collective hope of millions of Nigerians who desire a better nation built on competence, accountability, and people-oriented leadership.

According to him, the entrance of Chief Onunkwo into the NDC family is a major boost to the growing movement for a new Nigeria being championed by Peter Obi.

“I am delighted to officially welcome my brother, Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, into the great NDC family. His decision to join this movement is a clear indication that well-meaning Nigerians are beginning to identify the NDC as the true platform for national transformation and people-centered governance,” Lotanna stated.

He further noted that he looks forward to working closely with Onunkwo and other progressive-minded Nigerians toward the realization of a prosperous, united, and functional Nigeria where leadership is driven by competence, compassion, and integrity.

“The NDC remains the vehicle through which Nigeria can be rescued and repositioned for greatness under the leadership and vision of Mr. Peter Obi. Chief Ebuka Onunkwo has made the right decision by aligning himself with this historic movement for national rebirth,” he added.

Lotanna called on all Nigerians who genuinely desire positive change to emulate Chief Onunkwo by joining the NDC and supporting the vision of Peter Obi in the collective effort to rebuild the nation.

“I call on every well-meaning Nigerian, especially stakeholders across political, business, and community circles, to learn from Chief Ebuka Onunkwo and join the movement for a new Nigeria. The time has come for patriotic citizens to rise above personal interests and work together to rescue our country from poor leadership, economic hardship, and insecurity,” he said.

The federal lawmaker hopeful stressed that the growing acceptance of the NDC across the country signals the emergence of a formidable political force capable of redefining governance and restoring hope to ordinary Nigerians.
