Court admits Bauchi Finance commissioner to N500m bail

The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted Yakubu Adamu, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Finance, a N500 million bail with two sureties in like sum. Adamu was arraigned on a six-count charge bordering on alleged money laundering to the tune of N4.6 billion.

*Bail Conditions:*

– _Sureties_: Two individuals with landed properties in Asokoro, Maitama, or Gwarinpa districts of Abuja
– _Property Documents_: Original copies of Certificate of Occupancy to be deposited with the court
– _Passport_: International passports of Adamu and sureties to be deposited with the court registrar
– _Travel Restriction_: Adamu not to travel out of Nigeria without court permission

The court has adjourned the matter to January 20, 2026, for commencement of trial. Adamu will remain in Kuje Correctional Centre until his bail is perfected.
