The political landscape in Bauchi State continues to simmer as Maigida Yakubu, a former loyalist to ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Yakubu Dogara, launched a scathing critique over Dogara’s recent acceptance of a federal appointment under the All Progressives Congress (APC)–led administration.

In an 11-page open letter released Friday, Yakubu berated Dogara as “a master manipulator” who has forsaken the values of unity, dignity, and honesty in pursuit of personal gain. He accused the former Speaker of orchestrating the decay and division of the Zaar land, his native constituency in Bauchi State.

Yakubu’s criticism centered on Dogara’s vehement opposition to the APC’s controversial Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket during the 2023 elections, which he publicly denounced at the time. According to Yakubu, Dogara’s moral posturing was short-lived, alleging that the former Speaker later lobbied for positions within the same government which is a total hypocrisy.

“From moral crusader to political opportunist your fall from grace has been nothing short of spectacular,” Yakubu wrote. “You paraded Christian values when convenient, only to abandon them when political gain knocked on your door.”

He further accused Dogara of staging public protests by “importing a rented Christian crowd” to amplify his opposition to the APC ticket, describing the move as “cynical and performative.”

Dogara’s recent appointment to a federal agency has stirred debate among critics and supporters alike. Yakubu asserted that the chairmanship position was handed to Dogara not as a gesture of respect, but as “a muzzle,” aimed at silencing his dissent.

Yakubu didn’t stop at national politics. He alleged that Dogara neglected the empowerment of youth and failed to leave a lasting legacy during his tenure in the National Assembly. “Name one Basayi son or daughter empowered by your time in office—just one,” Yakubu challenged.

The letter has generated heated discourse in Zaar communities and beyond, with Dogara yet to issue a formal response.

Political analysts say the fallout underscores ongoing tensions within opposition circles and raises questions about consistency and integrity in public service. As Nigeria’s political terrain shifts toward 2027, Dogara’s next move and the public’s reception will be watched closely.
