The Anambra gubernatorial election contest was yesterday taken to the Onitsha drug Market at the River Niger bridge head when the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA and the All Progressives Congress APC traded blames over the closure.
Supporters of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu had in a viral video accused Gov Charles Soludo of being behind the sealing off of the market which elicited sharp response from APGA.
In a statement by the National Coordinator APGA Media Warriors Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe the National Agency For Food Drug And Control NAFDAC is an agency of the APC led federal government and not the Anambra state government.
Obigwe further contended that Gov Charles Soludo has nothing to do with NAFDAC adding that the those he called blackmailers should stop distracting the governor.
“A brother and close ally of Ukachukwu sent me a blackmail video that heaped the blame of Onitsha head bridge drug market closure on Governor Soludo and the woman DG of NAFDAC”
“One of the traders that spoke in the video claimed that many traders of Onitsha head bridge drug market died because of the closure of their market and foolishly claimed that it is the fault of Governor Soludo and the woman DG of NAFDAC”
“This is honestly the most stupid blackmail video I have ever watched”
“What concerns Governor Soludo and NAFDAC that is a Federal agency, the answer is nothing’
Obigwe opined that;
“NAFDAC as a Federal agency operates on their own without interference from State government”
“When they closed the Onitsha drug market, Governor Soludo intervened out of patriotism and pity for the innocent traders that are not dealing on counterfeit drugs”
“His intervention yielded positive and fruitful results ”
“Any attempts to use NAFDAC closure of Onitsha drug market to blackmail him is tantamount to pouring water on a stone because he cannot be linked to NAFDAC activities as APC led Federal government agency”
“Governor Soludo is obviously stainless and that is the reason Ukachukwu hired blackmailers are finding it difficult to see what they will use to blackmail him”
“In Governor Soludo, Anambra people are blessed with a man they are proud of having as their Governor that is delivering dividends of good governance”
“He has delivered on his first term election campaign promise to Anambra people and deserves to be rewarded with a 2nd term mandate to enable him complete his good work in our State” he concluded
