The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed a remarkable improvement in security within the Ihiala area of the State, one of the flashpoints of insecurity in the past.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement to newsmen on Friday, noting that the improved stability was largely due to the cooperation of residents and the efforts of the Joint Security Force in the area.
According to the statement, the police also recently arrested four suspects involved in threatening innocent residents of Ihiala with kidnapping, abduction, and violence. The suspects — Chimezie Ezebuo, Chinaza Ndimani, Chinecherem Okafor, and Nzube Azubuike, all males from Okohia, Ihiala — were apprehended on April 10, 2025, at about 2:53 p.m, the statement added.
Recovered from the suspects were mobile phones and SIM cards used to send threatening messages and incite panic in the area.
SP Ikenga revealed that the arrests followed a painstaking investigation based on credible intelligence about faceless individuals engaging in cyberstalking and issuing threats to residents. He added that all four suspects have confessed to the crime and are currently in custody for further interrogation.
He emphasized that such criminal actions not only cause fear among residents but also undermine the security efforts of law enforcement agencies in the state.
The Police Command reassured members of the public of its commitment to maintaining peace and safety, while also commending the people of Ihiala for their cooperation in identifying and exposing criminal elements in their community.
