Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has paid a solidarity visit to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on Monday following the recent devastating floods that wreaked havoc across the city and its surrounding areas.
During the visit, Mohammed expressed his deep sympathy to the government and people of Borno over the unfortunate disaster, which led to widespread destruction of homes, infrastructure, and displacement of many residents.
He acknowledged the immense challenges caused by the flooding and praised the resilience of the people in the face of such adversity.
In a gesture of support, Governor Bala announced the donation of the sum of ₦250 million to aid in the ongoing relief efforts and the rebuilding of affected communities, noting that the donation was part of Bauchi State’s commitment to supporting its neighboring states during difficult times.
Governor Bala also took the opportunity to meet and interact with his counterpart, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State.
During their discussions, both governors deliberated on the importance of regional cooperation in addressing environmental challenges and improving disaster preparedness.
Governor Zulum thanked his Bauchi State counterpart for timely assistance and emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration between states in Nigeria during crises.
This visit underscores the bond between the two states and reaffirms the need for continued collaboration to tackle common challenges, especially those related to climate change and natural disasters.
