Plans has reach an advanced stage by jigawa state government towards the introduction of a new modern farming concept for the improvement of agriculture in the state.
Giving the hints while speaking to our Correspondent in Dutse, a technical adviser on agricultural extension as well the state Chairman of All Farmers Association of Nigeria , AFAN, Alh. Mai Unguwa Jaga Hadejia said the new concept will engage the services of agricultural experts in accessing and taking stock on one’s farmer’s farmlands management through the use of data bank documentation to be use in procuring and rendering extension service’s for optimum results.
Under the new concept, agricultural experts will take record of each captured Farmer’s record and documentation on a particular farm captured. For example his farm size, production capacity and his needs in terms of quantity and quality of fertilizer needed, among other agric accessories for easy disbursement of agric implements to Farmers through his relevant captured record’s to boost food production.
Jaga stated In achieving this set objectives we were grouped into committee’s by the jigawa state government in three Senatorial Districts whereby each zone was attached with agric experts in taking record’s of the captured farmlands in that zone in so doing we hope to cover the state in that directions. The essence was to ensure probity and accountability.
So far we have covered 14 out of the 27 LGA’S in jigawa state, and we are hoping to complete the rest between now to end of this January, he assured.
Our engagements include farmlands registration, demacation of cattle routes in avoidance of perrenial conflicts amongst farmers/ harders, provision of grazing lands, animal feeds, etc as well to preach peace among warriors of farmer’s/ harders to entrench peacefulo-existence for peace to reign in our state. Stressed since our outings there are no single occurrence to farmer’s nomad’s fued.
Hadejia commended Governor Namadi in making the availability of fertilizer at affordable prices from thirty five thousand naira to sixteen thousand naira per bag, disbursement of 2-2 tractor’s about fifty five to twenty seven LGA’S across jigawa state, provision of soft loans to agric farmer’s, among other provision of agricultural implements at subsidized rate.
” We applauds government in providing our farmer’s with assorted improved wheat seedlings, insecticides, and farming chemicals at subsidized rate among Other’s to boost wheat farming in jigawa state”.
He then called on farmer’s to reciprocate government gesture done to them through repaying all agric loans given to them.on time for other’s to benefits.
Again I am calling on our farmers to indulge the habit of conniving with u relevant agric agencies or organization on any issues relating to agric development instead they should liase with AFAN at all times in all aspects of their agric requirements.
He warn farmer’s to desist from the habits of selling off their agric loans implements at give away prices as government attract a severe punishment to erring farmer’s caught engaged in this dubious character’s.
