Governor Bala Mohammed has today performed the commissioning of 30 units of new Toyota Hiace buses for Mass Transit services across the state and beyond.
Speaking at the event, Mohammed said the provision of the buses was part of his administration effort towards cushioning the effect of fuel subsidy removal as well as to ease transportation in the state.
According to the Governor, the buses were purchased from an indigenous company of White Rock Nigeria at the cost of N480, 000.000 over a period of 24 months repayment plan of N20 million based on monthly instrumental.
He call on the management and staff to ultimately maintain, services the buses for the benefit of all citizens of the State.
Earlire in his speech, the General Manager of the Yankari Express Corporation, Muh’d Danjuma Jibrin Zwall said the agency was established in july 1988 to provide inter-town transport within the state and inter-state transport services within the county. And it has started with 15 buses during then the military region.
He said the company was also created to stimulate economic growth and ease transportation hardship being face in the state.
According to him, Jibrin Zwall said currently, the Yankari Mass Transport has total of 58 serviceble vehicles in its fleet
“Today we’re commissioning of 30 Toyota buses at the N480 million to be pay back in 24 months on instrumental payment of N20 million every month”,.
“We’re collecting N6000 against the commercial price of N12,000 from Bauchi to Abuja and Kano N and Gombe is N respectively.
In his remarks, the Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Sulaiman, appreciated the effort of the present Administration for purchasing the buses.
He pray that the buses will improving the life’s and economic wellbeing of the citizens of the State.
