Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Junior, the first son of late Dim Chukwuemema Ojukwu has described the peaceful conduct of the Anambra state governorship election as divine.

He said that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) leading in the election was as a result of the resolved of the people to take their destinies in their hands and make sure that their votes count.

Ojukwu Jr made the statement in Awka, Anambra state capital on Thursday, while reacting on the final result of the election.

According to the first son of the founding father and soul of APGA, the election was needed to ensure the survival of a party with a divine mandate to deliver for the people.

โ€œIt had to be held to ensure continuity and allow the state to grow, building on the foundation left by Governor Obiano and his predecessor, to ensure Anambra continues to move forward and not backwards. It had to be held to fulfill our debt to Ezeigbo โ€˜Ojukwuโ€™ and other foundation members who passed the torch on to usโ€ he said .

He noted that his late father image on the Party has been the tonic upon which APGA has been wining and surviving in the state

โ€ His image, has always, loomed large. It is the symbol which unified us all and inspires us to forge a united destiny for our people. That in no way takes away from the monumental effort made by H.E. Governor Obiano, who by sheer force of will and the support of well meaning stakeholders, made the impossible, possibleโ€ he said .

Ojukwu jr urged the incoming governor of Anambra state to extend his hands of fellowship to his political opponents and reach out to all and sundry irrespective of any divide.

โ€ As I have said elsewhere; first, make a genuine effort to reconcile aggrieved members. Secondly, look for ways to welcome back those who left. Then create an atmosphere that will attract new members so that the party can grow.

โ€œFinally of course, we expect excellent governance and all it encompasses, something that just a cursory look at Professor Soludo, will convince any reasonable observer, he is immensely qualified to deliver.

The Anambra electorate is โ€œwokeโ€! They are grounded, well informed, intelligent and have a single minded determination to create their own way forward.

“They are not easily cowed or pressured. I think the reaction of the Anambra electorate these past few days have earned them a lot of respect throughout the nation and beyondโ€.
