Ekwunife, who is the lawmaker representing Anambra Central at the Nigerian Senate, made the remarks on Sunday, August 29, 2021, when she hosted Mr Ozigbo to a meeting with members of her political family.

At the event held at the Senator Uche Ekwunife Centre in Awka, Ekwunife charged her followers to discard distractions and focus on delivering PDP at the election.

“We must be proactive as we enter this electioneering season. Our priority must be delivering our candidate at the November poll,” Senator Ekwunife said.

“Luckily, we do not lack in any department. Every election period comes with its unique challenges, which include misunderstandings and suspicion. What is important is the goal and not these distractions.

“As the highest-ranking elected member of the PDP in Anambra State, it is essential that I lead the charge and galvanise party members to rally behind our candidate, Valentine Ozigbo.

“We have less than 50 days to the election. We need your support to ensure that our wards and local governments are fully mobilised for PDP,” the federal legislator added.

In his remarks, a member of the PDP National Board of Trustees, Chief Maxwell Okudo, said that Ozigbo is the perfect candidate with the right message and should be marketed to Ndi Anambra with the required urgency.

“Valentine Ozigbo has an enviable track record that is not hard to sell. It is up to us to ensure that the people at the grassroots are familiar with the Ka Anambra Chawapu message,” Chief Okudo stated.

While addressing the large audience, the PDP guber candidate, Mr Valentine Ozigbo expressed confidence in Senator Ekwunife to lead a winning campaign.

He also called for all hands to be on deck to ensure that everyone takes advantage of the Continuous Voter’s Registration Exercise currently being organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“I thank our Chairperson, Senator Uche Ekwunife, for her encouraging words and for the tremendous support she has provided. With her leadership and the backing of this strong political family, we are heading in the right direction, Ozigbo said.

“I am grateful to you for standing by Senator Ekwunife, and in extension, by me. The emphasis is on commitment to the cause and mobilising people to take advantage of the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise to ensure that everyone at our various bases is equipped with their voter’s card,” Ozigbo emphasized while thanking members of Senator Ekwunife’s political family.

“If we capitalise on our collective strengths, PDP will win by a landslide, which is our eventual goal. So let us unify all the political families in Anambra to make this vision a reality. In the coming days, we consolidate on the unity we have in the party and convert it to votes on Election Day,” Ozigbo, a multiple award-winning global CEO, assured.

On August 15, the PDP inaugurated a high-powered Governorship Campaign Council chaired by Senator Ekwunife.

The move has been heralded with wide celebration and is considered a reasoned decision within the PDP in Anambra state.
