Bauchi Speaker Tasks Christians To Preach Gospel Of Peace, Unity

Christians in Bauchi State have been tasked to continue preaching the gospel of peace and unity so that the state and the country at large will live in peace and take the path of growth and development.

The call was made by the Speaker of  Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Y Suleiman during the closing ceremony of the quarterly meeting of Antioch Baptist Association which took place at First Baptist Church, Ningi on Saturday.

The Speaker who was Represented at the ceremony by his Campaign Secretary, Alhaji Musa Haruna Tiffin, commended the Christian community in Ningi LGA for living in peace and harmony with their Muslim counterpart.

He said that, “In Ningi, both Muslims and Christians are living in peace and with mutual respect. This is the story in most parts of the State. We are all brothers keepers. Our country is at trying moment, insecurity, unemployment, rape and other forms of violence, name it”.

The Speaker added that, “As religious leaders, you have critical role to play in salvaging the country, through preaching and admonishment for peace, fear of God and patriotism.”

Abubakar Y Suleiman who thanked the Forum for choosing Ningi to host the Conference, pledged to continue partnering with them and all religious organizations toward peace building, development and all issue affecting the society.

In his response the Moderator of Antioch Baptist Association, Revd Ezekiel Oyebode commended the efforts of the state government in ensuring that peace and stability existed in the state.

Ezekiel Oyebode particularly commended the Speaker for the display of religious tolerance demonstrated by his move to be part of the meeting without even notifying them saying, “this is a demonstration of sensitivity to the happenings around.

The Clergyman assured that as law abiding citizens, Christians in the area particularly those of the Baptist denomination will continue to support moves that will promote peace and peaceful co-existence in the state.

The Moderator however appealed for continuous accommodation of Christians in the area stressing that it is only in a peaceful atmosphere that positive development and progress can be made.

Members of Antioch Baptist Association are drawn from Bauchi, Toro, Misau, Ganjuwa, Katagum and Ningi LGAs
