A coalition of Civil Society Organizations known as Bauchi State Network (BASNEC) has donated facemasks to women groups at Dingal, Gudum hausawa and Lushi villages of Bauchi local government area of the state.
Donating the masks, chairman of the network Mr Jinjiri Garba said the gesture was to support the state government in curtailing the spread of COVID 19 among residents of the state.
He noted that government has made wearing face masks compulsory by all citizens of the state saying some people in the rural areas do not wear the masks neither do they fully comply with the coronavirus preventive measures.
According to him, the donation would go a long way in making those who do not have the masks to now protect themselves by using them.
He explained that BASNEC is an umbrella body of all Civil Society Organizations in the state adding that the network works towards ensuring improved service delivery and good governance.
Also speaking, the administrative officer of BASNEC Zainab Mohammed Hassan asked the women to make good use of the donated masks pointing out that infected women have the propensity of spreading the virus more as they mingle with their children and husbands.
She also tasked them on regular washing of hands with sanitizers and or soap and water and avoid gatherings in order to stay safe and healthy.
