Windstorm has destroyed newly renovated Primary Schools building in Dabe Village in Ganjuwa local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Inspecting the collapsed building the State Universal Basic Education Board Chairman Dr. Abubakar Surumbai Sheikh Dahiru expressed is anger over the collapsed buildings which was renovated under 2017- 2018 SUBEB /UBEC Projects and vow to deal with whoever is responsible for the collapsed of the building either by not executing the Job according to specifications
He said the present administration of Governor Bala Mohammed inherited many dilapidated classrooms blocks and puts in over five billion naira to either renovate or built 1000 new classrooms block in all parts of the state, a huge amount of money was also paid to the site engineers to supervise and ensure execution of quality job according to UBEC / SUBEB specifications if a proper thing has done it will be difficult for the buildings to collapse a few months after it was completed whatever happened is unacceptable.
Dr. Surumbai said he will not condone sabotage, the act of insubordination from anybody and ordered the contractors that renovated the building to go back to the site and execute a quality Job and set up a powerful committee to investigate the causes of the collapsed building and to report back to the board with their report and recommendations within one week.
Chairman said apart from the committee that will supervise the project he will personally monitor the progress work and urged communities to report any contractor that is not executing a quality Job in their area and pledged to blacklist any erring contractor and sanction any erring engineer.
Earlier Councilor in the area Hudu Isa who spoke on behalf of the community commended the chairman for his zeal he said the windstorm destroyed some houses in the village, and commended the chairman his effort by frequently visiting the site since when the incident occurred and pledge the community support to ensure the execution of the quality Job in the area.
