As the South East Governor’s Forum (SEGF) concludes modalities for the
establishments of its zonal security arrangements the Youth Wing of
the Ohanaeze Ndigbo has insisted that the much touted Ogbunigwe
Security Outfit should be used as the brand name for the outfit.
It would be recalled that the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo
Chief Nnia Nwodo shortly after the meeting of the apex Igbo
Organization had resolved that the body would work with the governors
to establish the Ogbunigwe Security Outfit.
This is also coming on the heels of the reviving of the old Nkalagu
Cement Factory in Ebonyi State which was established by the then
Premier of East Central State Late Michael Okpara which is targeted
at employing up to 5,000 workers as it takes off.
According to the communiqué signed by the former youth leader Amb Jude
Ezenwafor, former National Youth Leader, Tony Uche Ezekwelu and the
secretary Stakeholders meeting Mazi Okadigbo Ifeanyi the body said:
“We commend the National Leadership of Ohanaeze and especially
Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing led by Amb. Dr. Arthur Obiorah for being in
the forefront of struggle for the establishment of OGBUNIGWE SECUIRTY
OUTFIT for the South East Region/Igbo Nation. We align ourselves
totally with the position of our President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo,
Chief Nnia Nwodo taking into consideration the security challenges
bedeviling our land”.
“We admonish all hands to be on deck to ensure the speedy
actualization of the noble idea. To this end we urge the South East
Governors’ Forum led by Governor Dave Umahi to urgently key into the
Ohanaeze Ndigbo Ogbunigwe Security Outfit for the posterity of Igbo
Nation. We hereby call on all community Youth bodies across Igbo land
to urgently key into the Ogbunigwe Security Outfit of the Ohanaeze
Youth Wing”.
“We unanimously endorse the Laudable proposals, programs and projects
of the Amb. Dr. Arthur Obiorah led Youth Wing including the setting up
of Ogbunigwe Security Outfit and Ohaneze Youth Security Summit, The
convocation of Nzuko Oha Ndintolobia Igbo Worldwide and Igbo Heroes
day, Youth Employment and Empowerment drive, Igbo Youth Development
Centre, South East Federal Infrastructure Tour, Igbo Agenda 2023 among
others and call for full support of Ndi Igbo for the full
implementation as these programs can give Igbo Youths unprecedented
advantages”.
“We call on all well meaning Igbo Industrialists to key into the Akulu
Uno Philosophy as this will guarantee job creation, empowerment of our
teaming youths, security, and massive economic development of our
region. We thank the Chairman/CEO of Ibeto Group, Chief Dr. Cletus
Ibeto, the Southeast Governors more especially the Ebonyi State
Government for their untiring effort and support in ensuring that
Nigercem Nkalagu is back on stream with expectations of over 5,000
jobs to be created directly for our Youths. Nigercem is one of the
great legacies of the South East region”.
