Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state has called on the newly appointed members of his cabinet to imbibe a clear understanding of his administration’s economic blueprint, stressing that there would be no room to entertain impossibilities.
The governor stated this while declaring open a two-day retreat for Members of the State Executive Council in Awka, which attracted prominent resource persons including a former Governor of the Central Bank, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and renowned financial expert, Bismark Rewane.
The governor reeled out his administration’s target for the next four years, describing the confirmed members of his exco as capable individuals selected on merit.
He revealed that some of the state ministries have been rejigged, while new ones have been introduced to accommodate very salient aspects of the state economy and make for improved impact.
Obiano insisted that his government places high premium on the event as it was designed to put the government appointees in the right frame of mind to be able to contribute meaningfully towards the success of his government.
Earlier, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, recalled how the first term retreat was instrumental to the success of the Obiano administration in the last four years.
He expressed optimism that the participants would have been fully energized and motivated at the end of the two-day event, with a clear knowledge of the direction of the present administration and be able to play the expected role.
It is expected that the retreat which is coming barely one week after the inauguration of Governor Obiano for a second term in office, would help set the tone for what promises to be a fulfilling four years of transformation and advancement in the State.
The retreat which also attracted Heads of Government Parastatals, Departments and Agencies, has as its theme, “setting the tone for the next four years.”
