Minister of Transportation, Chief Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has asked the people of South East to vote massively for President Mohammadu Buhari in the fortcoming general election.

He said sticking on the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which he described as a regional party would further push them far away from governance.

Delivering a lecture titled, ” The Igbo in the politics of Nigeria”, at 12th Convocation lecture of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, the Minister said embracing the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), would not only draw them closer to the national grid, but increase the chances of igbo presidency.

He revealed most of the projects abandoned by the 16years of PDP rule had been revived by the Buhari-led administration, including roads and railways, insisting that Buhari meant well for the igbos.

Amechi noted that the ongoing projects across the south east were clear testimonies that Igbos were not being marginalised by the present administration as erroneously believed.

The minister rather identified Igbo identity and emotionalism as the major setbacks to Igbo progress, urging them to desist from lamenting about the civil war, which he said, would rather draw them backwards than forward.

“The Igbo nation should focus on solutions not recriminations. Let the quarrel with the north real or imagined stop.

“Let us join hands as one people to chart the way forward for a brighter future for Nigeria. We need to examine very carefully the Igbo political trajectory and learn crucial lessons of history.

“We cannot remain trapped in our past. We cant wish away the war that took place but we cant continue to move forward with our heads slightly inclined backwards,” he added.
