Dr Ikedi Ohakim has called on the people of Imo State to rise up to the task ahead, saying that the job expected of them in 2019 requires all boot to be on the ground.

In a statement on Monday, the former Governor who is running for a second term in office in 2019 also said that though God has abandoned the state, it requires the truth to set the truth to feee the state and return it to God’s hands.

“Clearly, God had turned His back on us leaving us to our peril. But the truth shall always set our people free, and it is in your hands my dear brothers and sisters to help guide our people and state back to the Hands of God”, he said.

Ohakim added: “We can no longer allow our people to erroneously believe in the lies of 2011. It is our duty. We who know the truth should liberate our people from the bondage of lies which even God Himself is not happy about, as is evident with the present condition of things in our dear state”.

He urged the youths to go beyond Facebook activism and help open the eyes of the people to the truth everywhere.

He said: “It goes beyond coming on Facebook to make comments of support and encouragement. The task ahead requires boots on the ground.

“It goes beyond typing on the keypad of your phones or laptops. It requires you to take the gospel to the people online and most importantly offline.

“Open the eyes of our people who are still hoodwinked with lies by giving them facts. Let our people know the truth everywhere you go. It could be in the church, it could be at the market place, it could be at your joints or recreation areas.”
