The governorship candidate of Better Nigeria Progressive Party (BNPP) Chief Ikem Ohanugo has said that if elected governor on November 18 he will develop a sector where women and youths will be self employed rather than giving out motorcycles and tricycles for commercial purposes.
He said that he is contesting to make an impact and change the way things were being done in the state, where the rich gets richer and poorer.
Ohanugo who stated this yesterday during a meeting with the state and local government executive members of the party as well as delegates during the primary election to thank them for the successful primary where he emerged as their candidate.
“We also met to discuss the way forward and on how to flag-off our campaign in next few days and work out our strategies to win the election. My intention for the state is service to the people, Let us for the first time have a home grown leader in the state who understand the people’s feelings and what they need”.
“To make people participate in the governance not a way of few person hijacking the office and make other paupers. I am coming to give service to the people so that at the end of the day the common man on the street, villages and communities will feel the impact of the government”.
“We are going there for good governance, we are going there for proper governance which will ensure two things, good living and good life. We have been having pseudo candidate are from the state but they never lived here and the impact remained at the state level at Awka capital and that is the end”.
“We are coming because we are the grass rooters, who want to impact on every single communities in the state and not only to the capital city, every community and village has a peculiar needs which should be done and they differ from one community from the other, we have to go down as it should be and we resources in this state to get done”.
“A lot resources have not been tapped, Anambra is rich, it has men of timbers and calibers, Anambra is the light of the nation, if you compare the number of people we have in academia, business world, industries etc comes from Anambra state, so why is Anambra the way it is, is it a curse. So, for the first time we want move forward to harness the potentials in the state so that the common man can feel the impact of proper governance”.
“We are going to empower the people and get to where the people feel the pain and to empower people, I keep on saying this if a governor construct a road it doesn’t necessarily mean to be a big deal. We are going to impact on a common man, why is it that the people in the rural areas cannot enjoy pipe born water and electricity, so we have to follow development stage by stage to tackle the problem of common man”.
“In other places, you don’t have to do random development all around, you have to develop rural areas to reduce influx of people to the urban area, those who into agriculture will stabilize and get it done likewise in other areas. I don’t support empowerment of giving people motorcycles to tide OKada or Keke but developing a sector where they will be self employed”.
“Let the good people of Anambra state come out to participate in the electioneering to change things, it is not necessarily that you must have money to make a change but what you have in your brain” Ohanugo stated.
