We the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) and it’s leadership worldwide under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to place the whole world on notice regarding the illegal and wholesome undemocratic moves by APC Government led by Major General Muhammadu Buhari to re-arrest our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who committed no crime known to the laws of the Nigerian state. This dangerous path of intimidation, smacks of state sponsored terrorism designed to silence free speech and infringe on our rights to peaceful assembly. Merely asserting that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a threat to the Nigerian government is not a crime unless accompanied by legally definable crime or offence. The Muhammadu Buhari led administration must know that threats and more threats heaped upon intimidation after intimidation does not wash with IPOB. Before Buhari decides to make a move to arrest our leader, he must first go to court to obtain a court order or else it will be resisted by million of IPOB members.

Should Buhari Resign?

This singular act by Major General Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government of Nigeria is as we have predicted. We knew this day would come, so we are well prepared for it. As soon as the illegal, unconstitutionally draconian conditions of the bail were spelt out by Justice Binta Nyako we knew such a day would come when they will use the cover of broken bail condition to launch an attack. Federal Government must do exactly what IPOB did, afterall the matter is before a court of competent jurisdiction. When IPOB complained about the inhumane bail conditions, we were advised to approach the court for variation. Now that the almighty Arewa North are uncomfortable with the conduct of our leader in respect of the same bail conditions, they must also approach the courts to grant their prayers and not try to subvert the legal process by instituting arrest without the permission of the court. Whatever issues the APC government of Buhari has with our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu must first be presented before Justice Binta Nyako’s court for determination. This latest move by this regime is simply a continuation of the well documented anti-democratic tendencies of Major General Muhammadu Buhari and the cabals that controls him.

All and sundry can now see that Major General Muhammdu Buhari is a natural born dictator and can never be democratised. With his feudal upbringing and militaristic background, brute force is all he understands. He has shown himself to be impervious to reason and debate. But we are assuring him that our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is spiritually and mentally prepared for this epic battle. He is not afraid of being locked up without trial as long as his personal physician will be allowed to visit and attend to his medical needs. In dictatorial and totalitarian regimes such as we have under this APC government, outspoken critics are often imprisoned without trial, so this undemocratic and illegal approach to resolving the thorny issue of Biafra self determination championed by IPOB is to be expected.

The Federal Government must also state where it is written in the 1999 Constitution that being in a crowd of more that 10 people, calling for election and attending rallies is a crime. Our teams of local and international lawyers are following the developments closely. That Nigeria is dangerously close to the brink of collapse today is a direct result of the first illegal arrest and detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, arresting him again will plunge Nigeria into an unimaginable crisis. Should Justice Binta Nyako choose to listen to Buhari and revoke the bail application granted to our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu during his appearance on the 17th of October 2017, IPOB will ensure 100% compliance with the Anambra elections boycott order. Those advising Buhari must caution him that he stands to be remembered as the dictator that crashed Nigeria.

It is quite understandable that our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is the arrow-head and mouthpiece of the resurgent Biafra movement, rearresting and keeping him in detention without trial does not and cannot change anything, instead it will hasten the calamitous uncontrolled collapse of Nigeria. The mess Nigeria is in today was because Major General Muhammadu Buhari’s refusal to release him from prison at the appropriate time as ordered by the courts. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is not deterred by the plan to arrest and detain him again but our promise to Nigeria Government and their collaborators is that they will grind Nigeria both locally and internationally to a halt.

We are only asking for referendum to determine our existence in Nigeria and that is not a crime. Until Major General Muhammadu Buhari can come up with incontrovertible evidence that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu the IPOB leader committed any offence known to law, he is merely dabbling in an exercise in futility. Those politicians goading and encouraging him along this path of destruction must learn from history. IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu cannot be locked up indefinitely without trial because the consequences of such an action will most certainly bring Nigeria to a chaotic end.

We are peacefully agitating for our independent homeland for the people of Biafra. We have engaged in any armed conflict of any sort, we have not called for the expulsion of any ethnic group, neither have we declared any state within a state. Nigerian government must explain which laws of the land has been violated to justify their move to re-arrest our leader. Murderous rampaging Fulani herdsmen who has been killing, maiming and raping women- the fourth deadliest terrorist group in the world according to the international analysis, are being protected by the might of the Federal Government while a peaceful movement like IPOB are being hounded on daily basis by the Hausa Fulani dominated government of Nigeria.

It is appropriate we place the whole world on notice that we are not afraid of whatever action this undemocratic regime of Major General Muhammadu Buhari may take towards our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB members in general but one thing that must be stated clearly is that our indomitable leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other IPOB members worldwide will never go on exile or be frightened into abandoning the struggle for freedom. We are expecting this APC government led by Major General Muhammadu Buhari to open up their court case against our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on the 17th of October 2017, if they have any case against him or forever hold their peace because detaining him unlawfully and illegally will be resisted.

To put the record straight, those Arewa Elders through their coalition of Arewa Youths who issued a quit notice to Ndigbo and Christians living in the north must be arrested. No country in the whole world can run this kind of apartheid and expect the people not to peacefully resist it. One law for the Arewa North and another one for the rest of us is not acceptable to IPOB members worldwide.

Our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other IPOB members will be in court 17th October 2017, so Federal Government should devote their time for the legal battle ahead, not coming with threats of arrest because it doesn’t work with us.
