Allegation of promotion scandal is currently rocking the Federal Ministry of Interior under Abdulrahman Dambazau, even as the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Board have been dgragged to the National Industrial Court.
It was gathered that the Board overlooked all the laid down procedures while promoting 16 officers to the position of Deputy Comptroller Generals.
An aggrieved officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service Daniel Makolo has dragged the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Board to the National Industrial Court over the refusal of the NIS to promote him for over 10 years.
Makolo in a motion ex parte is seeking an order restraining the NIS, the CDFIB and the CG immigration from “carrying out any promotion exercise pending the hearing and determination of this writ of summons, thus maintaining the status quo ante.”
Though the Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Dambazzau, yesterday decorated the newly promoted sixteen Assistant Comptroller General (ACGs) to the position of Deputy Comptroller Generals (DCGs) in the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Prison Service (NPS).
A source revealed that most of the senior officers who were eligible were not invited for the promotion interview, describing the exercise as “skewed in favour of selected officials.”
It was gathered further that the board which is chaired by the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, simply handpicked some favoured candidates and issued the, a letter of promotion while ignoring others who had spent over five years on their ranks.
It was gatnered that about 28 ACGs in the immigration service were sidelined by the CDFIB while tens of others were also not considered in the three other para-military services.
The source said, “The board merely selected 16 favourite officials from the immigration service, civil defence and the prisons and promoted them to DCGs while ignoring over 80 other eligible officials across the services. They refused to invite all eligible officers for the promotion interview and this is a violation of the civil service procedure.”
