Governor Okorocha Appeals To The General Public Not To Panic Over Heavy Presence Of Soldiers In Owerri

With effect from Sunday, December 4, 2016, there will be heavy presence of officers and men of the Nigerian Army in Owerri, Imo State Capital. And the Soldiers would be in Owerri for the CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF’S Conference, which would last for days.

 

The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari is expected in Owerri on Monday, December 5, 2016 to declare the Conference open.

 

Against the backdrop of this development, the State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has appealed to the people of the State in particular and the public in general, not to panic or worry over the unusual presence of many Soldiers in Owerri and Perhaps, environs, for the number of days the Conference would last.

The truth is that the Soldiers would be in Owerri to brainstorm on the way forward for the Nigerian Army and the nation at large.

 

It should be recalled that the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Enugu, General Ibrahim Attahiru had earlier visited the State to meet with the governor Owelle Okorocha over the Conference and also informed that the Army Headquarters had chosen Owerri, Imo State, because it provides a very ambient atmosphere for such Conference.

 

General Attahiru also informed that more than four hundred and sixty (460) officers of the Nigeria Army would participate in the Conference.

The governor, Owelle Okorocha has, on behalf of his family and the good people of the State wished Mr. President and the Soldiers who will be coming for the Conference, God’s journey mercy.
