The Aba Area Command of the Nigerian Police, Abia state has arrested two persons suspected to be producers of assorted adulterated drinks in the city.
Some of the drinks allegedly brewed by the suspects include Seaman’s Schnapps, St. Remy, Toma Red Grape, 501 and over 12 assorted brands of hot drinks and Red wines which are on sale and in high demand.
Also recovered were a black plastic bucket containing already mixed substance believed to be an adulterated drink which was yet to be bottled, five cartons of Bacco drinks (four empty cartons and one with adulterated contents), a carton of 501, a carton of St. Remmy, a carton of Toma Red Grape and amongst others.
A Police source told our correspondent that the suspects simply identified as as Emeka and Chinonso were arrested after a tip off by a Good Samaritan who informed the Police on the activities of the producers of fake and adulterated products.
247ureports.com gathered that Police have also launched manhunt for other members of the gang who fled the scene on sighting the security operatives at No. 60 Asa road, opposite the Ekeoha Shopping centre where they allegedly produce the adulterated drinks. The source also confirmed the arrest of the owner of the shop and his apprentice who are now in police custody, adding that they would soon be charged to court for prosecution of their matter.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Abia State Police Command, DSP Ezekiel Onyeke, could not be reached on his mobile number,but a senior Police officer at the Aba Area Command confirmed the arrest, and added that fleeing members of the syndicate would soon be arrested.
