Unizik SUG President To Be Impeached

Baring any last minute intervention, the five-month old President of the Student Union Government (SUG) of the prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Comrade Noble Eyisi may be impeached over allegations of high-handedness, acting unilaterally in many of the Union’s activities, including distributing sensitive critical material;s against the Institution’s authorities with a view to causing disaffection.

It was gathered that Comrade Eyisi had reportedly  printed and caused to be circulated in social, electronic and print media, what he titled ‘’Letter of Request’’ dated May 11, 2015 in which he among others. accused the Institution’s  Vice Chancellor, Prof.. Joseph Ahaneku of alleged imposition of biometric capturing fee of N7,500 on year One students of the institution, failure to account for money generated by the SUG, masterminding the increase in the Post-UTME Admission fee levied on prospective candidates, increase in departmental and faculty dues, reduction of the food price from N200 to N150 and non-release of the stipends, working and sitting allowances of the S.U.G. Executives as well as explanation of TTF/monies accruing from  the Temporary site to the Engineering Bus stand inside school.But in a statement refuting the allegations titled, ‘’letter of clarifications,’  the other executive members in a press briefing at the S.U.G.
Giant Building within the UNIZIK Permanent Site in the presence of the Dire3ctor of Information and Communications, Emma Ojukwu accused  the S.U.G. President of acting unilaterally and rasising unsubstantiated allegations.

The statement was signed by Comrade President Ozems 9Vice President), Comrade Arinze Anolue (Secretary-General0, Comrade Martin Beck Nworah (P.R.O),  Comrade Alex Nzeadi (Director of Socials), Comrade Joseph Idigo (Treasurer), Comrade Joseph Okonkwo (Financial Secretary), Comrade Nancy Onyenji (Assistant Secretary0, and Comrade Livinus Ike (Director of Sports).

Elaborating on the position of the anti-Eyisi Executives, the  Public Relations Officer of the NAU’s SUG, Comrade Martin Beck  Nworah accused the embattled SUG President of having committed many atrocities which cut across  financial recklessness, arbitrary decision making, impersonation of the Executives’ officers, deceit and corruption.

The case of his impeachment is currently in the S.U.G. High court and a motion in that regard was also sent to the SRC The PRO alleged that the act of circulation of inflammable materials against the school authorities by the controversial S.U.G. President, was to create disaffection and distraction to the overwhelming evidence against his unwholesome activities., adding that the executive of the Union had never at any time had any “meeting with him to deliberate on the issues he raised on behalf of the executives in the purported letter and we are therefore not parties to his acts of shenanigans.

”Already 8 out of the 10-man SUG Executives have perfected plans to conclude the process of impeachment of Comrade Eyisi as SUG President which was initiated a fortnight ago, prior to the criticisms of the institution’s authority.The Director of Information, Ojukwu fingered at those who lost in the power game for the institution’s Vice Chancellorship position to Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, among others , of being behind the purported unholy cause being pursued by the embattled S.U.G. President.
According to Ojukwu, he had served three Vice Chancellors of the institution, of which, according to him, Prof. Ahaneku is the most transparent and accountable.
