The group, National Democratic Front has petition the Inspector General of Police over the mysterious death of one Mr. Simeon Shikor who is said to be an employee of Oracle Farms Limited in Benue State, allegedly owned by the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Chief Samuel Ortom.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Philip Agbese, and made available to journalists, the Forum tasked the IG of Police to expedite action and thoroughly investigate the matter toward ensuring effective delivery of justice.

The family of the deceased has accused the farm and its owner in complication in the death of Mr. Shikor. “That we are greatly hurt by the realisation that our patriarch may have been killed for ritual purpose which his employer has a long standing history of involvement, especially in this period where politicians are known to involve in rituals to gain advantage over their opponents”. The family lamented.

In a copy of the letter to the NDF signed by a brother to the deceased, the family claim that Mr. Shikor had gone to work on the 2nd March but did not return. When enquiries were made at his work place, Oracle Farms, the company management denied any knowledge of his whereabouts. However when the search for their family member intensified they discovered his corpse lying carelessly in the bush around the farm, a discovery which was alerted to the farm management which still denied knowledge.

The letter further stated that the family has approached their late member’s employer for assistance in burying Mr. Shikor which has been unsuccessful as they have been denied entrance into the farm premises and also being refused access to the owner who says he is too busy with campaigns to attend to the matter.

The NDF has called on the Inspector General to speed investigation into the death which was reported to the police without any positive response given. It stated further that the family feared that the matter may be swept under the carpet as the influence of Ortom who is a former minister may hinder proper investigation into the matter.

“We hereby write on behalf of the Shikor family to appeal to your good office to ensure the matter is investigated to enable family gets prompt justice”. The statement added.
