Central Bank Governor, Godwin Efiefele has said that the bank is set to clamp down on Shcools and Landlord who request for dollars as means of transaction in Nigeria.
Emefiele says their action is putting unnecessary pressure on the naira .
Speaking on the outcome of Monetary Policy Committee Meeting (MPC) on Tuesday, Emefiele said that the perpetrators will soon face the full wrath of the law.
“Schools and landlords demanding for dollars as means of payment in Nigeria should desist henceforth or the CBN will come after them.
” it pertinent to note that the use of dollars as means of transacting business in Nigeria is illegal, we will not condone such illegality ” Emefiele said.
