Press Statement

The Campaign Organisation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has called on members of the Party to remain calm, focused and committed to winning the forthcoming general elections despite the shift in dates announced yesterday by the INEC for the elections.

This call was made today in a Statement issued by Barr Emma Okah, Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee of the campaigns following the shift in dates of the elections to 28th March, 2015 for the Presidential and National Assembly elections and 11th April, 2015 for the Governorship and House of Assembly elections respectively.

According to Mr Okah, the changes in dates are for the interest of our Nation and as law abiding Citizens of Nigeria, we shall continue to support and cooperate with the processes as stipulated by the INEC and urged PDP members to redouble their commendable efforts

“We are proud of our members and direct them to continue to mobilize the people from person to person, room to room, house to house, family to family, compound to compound, community to community, ward to ward, LGA to LGA and throughout the State for the elections”, he said, adding that PDP’s power to carry the people of the State along is the secret of her popularity.

The Statement further adds that all programmes and activities of the PDP especially the ongoing campaigns at various levels from the wards to the State should run their normal course. Accordingly, the Port Harcourt Local Government Area and Obio/Akpor Local Government Area Governorship Rallies fixed for Tuesday 10th February, 2015 and Wednesday 11th February, 2015 respectively and all other programmes of the Party in the State will still hold as planned.
