The  Borno state Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice,  Barrister Simon Malgwi has charged stakeholders and staff on the quick dispensation of justice to ensure equity and fair hearings at various courts in the state, 247ureports.com gathered.

Malgwi made the charges on the quick dispensation of justice at the Musa Usman Secretariat complex in Maiduguri, yesterday, while taking the mantle of leadership from the outgoing solicitor-general and permanent secretary, Mallam Fannami.

He said whenever justice was delayed for fair hearings in any of the Federal or Magistrate Courts; it amounts to denying justice without any fear hearings through quick dispensation of justice to the people in the state.

His words: “Our former late Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Zanna Mallam Gana has already laid the foundation for prompt dispensation of justice to the people, and our challenge now was to build on that foundation, so that the administration of justice could be effected without any fear or favour among us here today to witness my taking over from Barrister Mallam  Fannami, who had been working  hard to sustain this foundation.

“This foundation will also continue to create an enabling environment for the dispensation of justice to the people, irrespective of their social status and economic backgrounds.”

Speaking on welfare of staff, he said: “Governor Kashim Shettima has since approved the sum of N41 million for this ministry for car loans which have since given to 20 law officers of the ministry,” assuring that there will be improved welfare of staff, as he has taken the mantle of leadership of Justice Ministry.

“Governor Shettima believes in rule of law and the activities of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA); and therefore he has been very supportive to all junior and senior staff of this Ministry. We will work with him and move Borno the state forward, by quick dispensation of justice without any fear or fovour,” said Magwi yesterday.

He said the governor is compassionate and focused, despite the Boko Haram security challenges.

“Our governor has enormously support the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state by making sure they are accommodated comfortable in their various camps across the state and neighboring states of Gombe, Adamawa, Kano.

In his brief remarks at the handing over, Barrister Fannami said that the new solicitor-general and permanent secretary, Malgwi has worked in the Justice Ministry for over 25 years as law officer and rose to the rank of permanent Secretary yesterday.

“I am optimistic and confident that Malgwi; will leave up to the expectation of Governor Shettima and the people of Borno, who have reposed confidence in his appointment become the new Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of Justice Ministry,” said Fannami.

He also thanked the governor for giving him the opportunity to serve both people and staff of the state.
