Anambra Central Rainbow Coalition
13th October, 2014
Press Release
In the run up to 2015 Senatorial election, the Anambra Central Rainbow Coalition (ACRC) has endorsed Chief Victor Umeh of All Progressives Grand Alliance for Senate. He is a symbol of unity in the zone.
Anambra Central Rainbow Coalition considers it appropriate to endorse the candidacy of Victor Umeh of the ruling APGA in the State to ensure a synergy between the zone and Government House Awka that will fast-track development in Anambra Central. With effective representation in the Senate, Umeh will also attract more Federal projects in the zone. This is the essence of representative democracy and its dividends. Having considered other Senatorial aspirants in the zone, it is obvious that Victor Umeh is the candidate to beat. Accordingly, the rainbow coalition of all the political groups in Anambra Central endorses Umeh and enjoins him to justify the confidence the people reposed in him.
Umeh is a seasoned politician, versatile and endowed with leadership acumen to provide quality representation in the Senate.
Dr. Chris Ngige dashed the hope and aspiration of the people of Anambra Central Senatorial Zone as he abdicated his duties in pursuit of elusive governorship ambition. It was a disservice to the people of the zone who did not feel the pulse of his tenure in the Senate.
Ngige’s recent scholarship tokenism to some students in the zone is electoral Greek gift to woo the electorate to return him to the Senate which he will abandon again for his gubernatorial ambition. The coalition enjoins him to shelve his Senatorial bid and await the 2019 governorship election in the State as a faithful customer and contestant since 2003.
The people of Anambra Central Senatorial Zone want Victor Umeh for more democratic action. The national honour of Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) conferred on him by President Goodluck Jonathan is an eloquent testimony of Umeh’s political acumen, savvy, sagacity and tenacity of purpose in the service of the nation. He will do more as a Senator of the Federal Republic if elected in 2015. Anambra Central can no longer be taken for granted by political hirelings who will abandon the people after winning elections.
It is time to hold elected public office holders accountable and jettison their inordinate ambitions to perpetually represent the populace. It is time for reckoning. The coalition will summon all aspirants for various elective positions to give account of their stewardship and agenda for the 2015 elections. The era of godfatherism is over. Leadership is a sacred trust, a social contract that must be honoured and fulfilled for the progress development and advancement of Anambra Central Senatorial Zone.
The rainbow coalition will resist political buccaneers masquerading as democrats to hoodwink and rip off unwary electorate. Sovereignty resides in the people whose votes must be counted and count in 2015 polls. This is the only way we can sustain, deepen and strengthen our nascent democracy. We are all in it together.
