Abia State government has condemned the unpatriotic behavior of the immediate past Governor of the state for using his medium, The Sun newspapers to attack the administration of Chief T.A. Orji and disparage Abia people especially the elders.
Briefing newsmen on the recent publication of The Sun newspapers captioned “Abia Stinks” and attributed to Anambra-born millionaire, Prince Arthur Eze during the 23rd anniversary celebration of the creation of Abia at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr. Eze Chikamnayo, frowned at the deliberate distortion of facts and unwarranted attack on the people of Abia state by the former Governor through The Sun newspapers.
Prince Arthur Eze, according to the Commissioner never said that ‘Abia stinks’ rather on the said day, he Arthur Eze told the audience at the Okpara Auditorium about his awful experience travelling on the Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway from Enugu to Umuahia.
Apart from describing the Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway as being impassable, the businessman called on the Federal Government to come to the rescue of the South-east zone as almost all the federal roads in geopolitical zone are in very deplorable condition.
He said that the people of the South-east are suffering because of bad state of federal roads especially those leading to Abia State and pleaded with the Federal Government to urgently do something to alleviate their agonies of the people.
The Commissioner who was with the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor during the Press brief , Mr. Charles Ajunwa, condemned the unpatriotic behavior of the former governor of the state who he said ought to be a shining example of patriotism and urged him to immediately desist from his unpatriotic acts.
According to him, the state government will not hesitate to resort to legal measures against the former governor and his medium, The Sun if the unwarranted attack continues.
The state’s image maker said The Sun newspapers misquoted Prince Arthur Eze who was obviously referring the deplorable state of the Enugu- Port Harcourt federal road which is currently receiving attention through the intervention of Chief T.A. Orji.
He said Abians are happy under the administration of Governor T.A. Orji who has laid a solid foundation for the socio- economic and political development of the state as well as executed over ten thousand projects under his administration.
He stated that the former governor has nothing to show during his tenure compared to the many tangible and intangible achievements of Chief T.A. Orji.
The Commissioner said no amount of blackmail by the former governor of the state through The Sun newspaper will deter Chief T.A. Orji from rendering quality services to Abians, adding that Chief T.A. Orji is a shining example of good governance and has delivered on all fronts.
