As the security situation in Rivers State battles to return to normalcy following the aborted impeachment saga to remove the Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, skirmishes at select local government areas remain potential violent hotspot. Information available to 247ureports.com indicate a group of angry cultists numbering thirty [30] armed with dangerous weapons attacked the police headquarters at Abua Odual Local Government Area in the late morning hours of Wednesday, September 10, 2014 resulting in injuries.

As gathered, the group of cultists were approaching the police headquarters in attempt to free one of their members who was arrested recently by the police for cult related activity. As the cultist neared the police station, they opened fire at the station. The police officers at the station immediately returned fire – and the gun duel ensued.
