As the battle for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket gathers momentum in Adamawa State, a front runner, Gen. Buba Marwa (retd) has allayed the fear of delegates across the State that the Presidency was scheming to impose a candidate on the party.
PDP members in the State are worried and alleging a top national officer of the party and a Presidential aide of dropping the name of the President to favour new entrant into the party.
The former Lagos State Military Administrator, who arrived Yola on Tuesday, to the waiting hands of thousands of party faithfuls and supporters, assured them President Goodluck Jonathan is only interested in a “transparent, credible, free and fair party primary that will usher in a popular candidate”.
To further encourage them, Marwa said that he has personally met with President Jonathan who assured him that he has no anointed candidate but will create a level-playing ground for all the aspirants.
Some of the delegates who received the former Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa at the Yola Airport, followed him to his residence in the state capital, where they endorsed his nomination form and further pledge their support.
Marwa assured the delegates that he will govern the state with the fear God and serve the interest of the people, if given the mandate. “I will do more for Adamawa, our dear State, than I have for any other state as military administrator,” he said.
Prayers were offered at his residence by concerned party faithful for the success of his governorship ambition.
