Soldiers attached to the military Unit stationed at Ngwa High School, Aba, Abia State have demolished a building being used as a kidnappersโ€™ den at Amuzu Ibeku in Osisioma Ngwa council area of Abia state.

247ureports.com gathered that the building which has been deserted before the arrival of the soldiers was being used by its owner, Ejike Uzodinma to keep abducted victims until ransom is paid.

A source told our correspondent that sensing danger, Uzodinma and members of his gang fled the camp after one of their victims escaped from the den. They were said to have relocated other victims before abandoning the building.

The source added that while conducting a search on the premises, the soldiers recovered a registered tricycle which the kidnappers use to convey victims to the hideout.

Narrating his ordeal, a businessman who escaped from the kidnappersโ€™ hideout attributed the experience he went through as awful, stressing that he and other victims were being tortured daily.

He said he was driving to house at about 10pm on Saturday when a Toyota Corolla ash coloured Toyota Corolla car suddenly blocked him while the occupants on gunpoint moved him into their vehicle.

โ€œThey blindfolded me inside their vehicle and later took me to a location at about 11am. They initially asked me to sit in a plastic chair from where I was transferred to another location in a bush around 1am Sunday morning.

โ€œAround 5am, they took me from the bush into a house where I slept till the following morning. Initially, they demanded N20million ransom, but I told them that I can only guarantee N200, 000, a plea that didnโ€™t go down well with them. One of them slapped me and threatened to kill me but God spared my life.

โ€œThey later took me into one of the rooms in the bungalow where they left me blindfolded and my hands still tied.

โ€œWhen I noticed that they have all gone out of the room, I started struggling to lose myself, I managed to escape from their camp and ran into ran into a compound from where I called my brother who invited the soldiers.โ€

A soldier at the Ngwa High School Unit who did not want his name in print told 247ureports.com that the burning of the building was to send a strong message to other criminals that they would soon be nabbed if they continue with their evil activities. He added that his Unit is still on the trail of the fleeing kidnappers.
