Security operatives on wednesday intercepted a luxury bus conveying
over fifty suspected members of Boko Haram at Obollo Afor in Udenu council area of Enugu state.
Unconfirmed reports had it that the alleged insurgents were heading to different parts of south-east and south- south parts of Nigeria.
They were apprehended in the wee hours of today by a team of National
Task Force on Small Arms, Ammunitions and Light Weapons.
However, when our correspondent visited the State Police headquarters yesterday morning, the suspects, were seen filing out of the
intercepted bus with registration number, AKD816XG into the premises
of the command.
It was gathered that the vehicle, belonging to the Young Shall Grow Transport company, was impounded during a stop and check
exercise by the security operatives.
When asked to confirm the arrest of the suspects, the state
Commissioner of Police Mohammed Adamu Abubakar, who had earlier
paraded four criminals, nabbed for car snatching, declined comment,
saying he was yet to get detail information on the incident.
Though, he hinted that he has ordered the task force team to transfer the suspected to the police headquarters in Enugu.
Items recovered from the alleged insurgents, our correspondent
learnt includes arms as well as bags containing Army uniforms, amongst
others.
