Zamfara State Assembly Passes 2014 Budget Insists On ‘Zero Naira’ For Basic Education Board

Members of Zamfara State House of Assembly have passed the 2014 appropriation bill after the house outstanding committee on finance and appropriation laid it before the house plenary.

Presenting the final report before the members, chairman of the committee Alh Aliyu Ango Kagara informed the house members that after consultation with all the ministries, agencies and parastatals of the government, the committee agreed that the capital provision shall be allocated the sum of 57.8 billion naira while recurrent shall be allocated 47.7 billion naira.

The committee in the report also insisted that based on the vote of no confidence passed on the against the executive chairman of Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB) Alh Murtala Adamu Jangebe no single kobo has been appropriated to the board for both capital and recurrent till the state governor removed him from office as executive chairman.

The committee called on the house of assembly to write to the state ministry of finance and that o budget adding that on no account the board shall not be issued with money if Murtala Jangebe remains the executive chairman of the board.

Commenting on the appropriation, speaker Zamfara State House of Assembly Sanusi Garba Rikiji commended the committee for their work describing the document as absolute reality.

He said by next probably the document will be sent to the Executive governor for assent.

The budget capital allocation in the budget represents about sixty eight percent of the approved budgets while over forty percent went to the recurrent.

It could be recalled that the executive governor of the state challenged members of the state house of assembly to probe if at all there was any correspondence in relation to ZSUBEB alleged scandal that was forwarded to his office for consideration and he refused to act on it.

It the house decisions hold, it means primary school teachers in Zamfara Shall not expect salary starting from this February unless if the embattled chairman is removed.
