Mother of the Abia state Accountant General, Mr. Gabriel Onyedilefu, Rose who was abducted last Sunday on her way back from church at Ikem Nvosi community in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area has regained her freedom.
247ureports.com gathered that the old woman was abandoned somewhere around Umueze Nvosi community of the same local Government.
While it is still unclear if any ransom was paid by the family, 247ureports.com further gathered that that the accountant-general’s mother was rescued by a good Samaritan who saw her around 5am at the Umueze community.
Close associates of the Onyendilefu family told our correspondent that the old woman had been reunited with her son (Gabriel) who lives and work in Umuahia, the State capital.
When contacted, Abia state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Geoffrey Ogbonna confirmed her release and added that the kidnappers abandoned the victim after police anti-robbery squad closed in on them.
Ogbonna hinted that the police have declared a manhunt for the fleeing gunmen.
