Pdp chairman commended state Assembly

As Election into the third tier of
Government gathers momentum in Nasarawa state, The People’s Democratic Party
has witness the mass exodus of supporters of the ruling party, All Progressive
Change in the state.
The tour of the thirty Local Government
of the state by the opposition party, The PDP is a clear evidence that the
opposition party in the state is on a renaissance to reclaim the state it lost
in a protest vote that brought the
incumbent regime, The APC to power.
In Toto Local Government, defectors in there
multitude were received into the PDP
fold by the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, Toto and
Nasarawa Local Government are the first visited Local Government by the state
working committee of the PDP.
No fewer than 2,000 supporters of the
All Progressive Congress change their tent to the PDP, The national chairman of
the PDP while
addressing aggrieved party members within the PDP family to have a rethink and
forged ahead towards moving the party to an enviable height.
He also appealed to the rebel group of
the party to bury their hatchet for the interest of the party and the nation,
He further added that, “we should all placed the interest of the party above
individual curiosity, saying the PDP is still the superior party in Africa.
The national chairman described peace
and unity as a catalyst for the progress of any nation, He stated that the
internal bickering in the party is usual, saying the national secretariat of
the party is working towards uniting all frictions within the party.
In Karu, Keffi and Kokona Local Governments
over 215 also decamped to the PDP, In Karu Local Government, Chieftain of the
APC John Iliya who spoke on behalf of
the decampees in Karu called on party supporters
to remain unswerving and dedicated towards rebuilding the party. Calling on
those at the behest of affairs to ensure a level playing ground for all
aspirants in the party.
While a decampess in Kokona, Mr Ibrahim who
spoke on behalf of the defectors said the APC regime under Governor Al-Makura
was more of deceit than reality, attributing untold hardship and squalor as the
major tenet of the APC in Nasarawa state.
The PDP also welcome over 2,000 APC
supporters in Nasarawa Eggon, The abode of the serving minister of Information,
Labaran Maku, Men, Women and youth turn out en masse to bestow a rose-colored
welcome to the PDP train.
The rosy welcome by Eggon people of
Nasarawa Eggon may not be unconnected to the persistent political brouhaha that
ensued between Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and father of Eggon politics,
Senator Solomon Ewuga who is about aligning his 2015 Governorship ambition to
the PDM, A new political party in the country.
In Akwanga Local Government, The home of
the incumbent Deputy Governor Dameshi Luka Barau scores also change tent, The
twist of event may not be unconnected to the rivalry between the Deputy
Governor and his arch-opponent who was selected the interim chairman of the APC
harmonization committee, Arch Stanley Buba.
In Wamba Local Government the country
home of the second Deputy Governor and Action Congress Nigeria flag bearer in
2011 Governorship election ,Professor Onje Gye-Wado,The APC also lost grip of
its supporters to the PDP .
In Awe scores also change tent, In Ameri
electoral ward in Keana Local Government, An electoral ward of the Honorable
commissioner for Information and Ethical Re-orientation, Hamza Elayo scores of party supporters jump horse to the PDP, Keana the country home to the Honorable member
of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Francis Orogu also witness defection
of APC members to the PDP.
The state of the PDP Yunana Iliya
commended party faithful for their patient and commitment towards uniting the party,
calling on aggrieved members of the party to bury their hatchet for the overall
interest of the party.
Saying the unity of the party will
foster victory ahead of the forthcoming Local Government election in the state,
He buttress that the party under his leadership will only support a consensus
contender ahead of unscheduled council
poll.
Appealing to aspirants to embrace the
new approach of supporting and endorsing a popular candidate, He further opines
that endorsing a consensus candidate will trim down bottleneck face the party
in recent elections.
Yunana Iliya described the concerned
group of the PDP as a cataclysm capable of destroying the solid stronghold that
connects the party together, “The concerned groups are political mercenaries hired
by the All Progressive Change in the state.
Affirming that the PDP continued to wax
stronger despite the 2011 Governorship election result which was in favor of
the APC, The state chairman of the part ascribed the nineteen PDP members of
the state House of assembly as fountain of democracy.
“Our lawmakers are not rubber stamp,
stating that the 19 members are the true product of the PDP,”He upholds
the state House of Assembly for the discharge of their duties without any fear
of molestation.
“Members of the Nasarawa state
House of Assembly were rated the best out of the thirty six states Houses of Assemblies,
They passed fifty one bills into law barely two years after attaining the
mantle of leadership at the state Assembly, We have confidence on them and i
know they can do it.
The former Governor of the state,
Aliyu Akwe Doma while addressing party followers in Doma last week was full of
enthusiasm that the PDP was at the vantage position to clinch the 2015
elections from presidential election to councillorship in the state.
Akwe Doma said the 2011 Governorship
defeat was an act of God, saying the party is waxing stronger, calling on state
executive of the party to maintain the tempo by uniting the party at all times.
Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo while fielding
question by journalist during the tour stated that the decamping of five PDP
Governors is not a threat to the party, He aver that defection is part of
political participation in Nigeria politics, adding that the defection will not
deter PDP from clinching the 2015 presidential election.
Also the PDP witness a sly
defection of APC supporters in Lafia, The capital of Nasarawa state and the main
hub of the APC.
