Abia State governor, Chief Theodore Orji has sworn-in 24 new commissioners with a charge to them to shun acts capable of hindering the development of the state.
He reminded the new commissioners that a lot is expected from them as his administration draws near to its exit date.
According to the governor, “We are on our point of exit. I was not pushed or lobbied to select you, but I did that after thorough examination based on your antecedents. Therefore I urge you to return the confidence I have in you by serving Abia people diligently. You were not chosen to do things anyhow. It is not easy to be a commissioner because it carries a lot of responsibility. The only person you own allegiance is God and the Government of Abia state represented by me. So you must show total loyalty and work to move the state forward.”
Gov. Orji who also swore-in 10 new Permanent Secretaries, vowed to place his searchlights on the new commissioners stressing that they must always do the right thing or be booted out.
He warned against sycophancy and threatened to sack anyone who misbehaves.
“We are going to place our searchlight on you, no sycophancy. If we catch you, you will be shown the way out. Abians are looking on you. We have to complete our projects, those we cannot complete we will do some good percentage of work on them”, Orji said.
247ureports.com gathered that 80% of the immediate past commissioners were reappointed with some of the retaining their former ministries. They include Umeh Kalu(Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice); Eze Chikamnayo (Information, Culture and Tourism); Solomon Adaelu (Rural Development); Emma Nwabuko(Local Govt and Chieftaincy Affairs; Okechukwu Ogah(Health) and Sampson Orji (Commerce and Industry).
The new ones are David Chigbu(Sports), Godwin Nna(Physical Planning and Urban Renewal); Chinwe Nwanganga(Environment), among others.
