The eventually cleared People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candodate for for the November 16 election in Anambra state Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu at th weekend arrived Awka to a tumultous welcome amidst fanfare by party faithful and avid PDP supporters.

Though the party’s candidate for the election has remained contentious and subject to court adjudication especially between Ukachukwu and Comrade Tony Nwoye, the state chairman of the party, Ken Emeakayi disclosed that the party eventually forwarded Ukachukwu’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC).
President Goodluck Jonathan, all his aides, including other PDP state governors, Ministers, Ambassadors, party bigwigs and notable Nigerians would be storming the state within the next few days for the PDP campaign flag off.

Addressing thousands of enthusiastic PDP supporters who thronged the state capital on Saturday to receive the candidate, at the Emmaus House premises in Awka, Emeakayi said that the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur and members of the National working committee (NWC) took the decision on Thursday and Friday respectively.

He said he was in the meeting alongside Nwoye, Ukachukwu, Prince Arthur Eze, Sen. Andy Uba and National Publicity secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh at Abuja where Ukachukwu popularly called “Ikukuoma”, was given the mandate by the party to fly the flag, baring any contrary order of court or the party.

Hear him, “Our job is code named ‘operation deliver your booth and not your ward’. I have been waiting to see the person who will deliver PDP to victory and that moment is here.

“During the meeting with Tukur and others including all those who vied for the Governorship ticket of our great party in the state, we were told that we have a Guber candidate in Anambra whose name appeared on the list of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)”.

“That is why I am here to introduce him to all of you who have been patient all the while, his name is Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu (Ikukuoma-Wind of glory) and his deputy is a prince from a royal family in Onitsha and a lawyer, Prince Dr. Harold Ekwerekwu”, the chairman stated.

In a brief but remarkable speech, Ukachukwu, dressed in a flowing babanriga and a cap and black leather pair of shoes to match, beaming with smiles told the surging crowd that he was overwhelmed.

But he announced to the crowd that the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP big wigs would soon be in Anambra to flag off PDP campaigns and would equally end it.

Ukachukwu however disclosed he would introduce free education and scholarship scheme in the state once he becomes the governor. He said his focal point would security, job creation, peace for all citizens, while Agriculture and business loan would be given to all citizen.
He inaugurated all PDP member as a potential campaign coordinator, canvasser and grassroots mobilizer, pointing out that he has all it takes to govern an “A” state like Anambra, and to take her to the next level. He distributed job placement forms from the FG in conjunction with the SURE-P programme of the present FG, free.

Others who equally spoke at the welcome rally were two of the PDP Governorship ticket contenders, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu and Iyom Josephine Anenih, former Minister of Women’s Affairs among others.
