The senator representing Anambra Senatorial District, Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige has thanked the people of Awka North and South for the opportunity to serve them in the National Assembly.

The senator said this while addressing his constituents in the Awka federal Constituency at Ayom N’okpala Primary School arena at the weekend.

The occasion was both a town hall and a thank you visit, which afforded the senator and former governor to present his constituency reports, encompassing his scorecard in the Senate. ‘Said those who are spreading false rumours did not do so six moths ago, nor three months ago, but because they fear that Ngige who you support massively may defeat them in the November 16, governorship elections’

Ngige who is the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Power highlighted his achievements in two years as a senator, saying that he co-sponsored the Anti-Gay Bill, The Health Bill and the National Health Insurance Commission Bill.

Continuing the senator who serves in seven committees in the Senate, noted that in two capacities, he has bent over backward to represent the entire Anambra State in the Senate. These are the Constitution Review Committee and the Appropriation Bill Committees for 2012 and 2013 ,at a point when the seat for Anambra North and Anambra South were vacant.

The Senator highlighted that so far asides the Senate President and the Deputy Senate President, no senator had attracted more constituency projects than him, the same also goes for jobs he had helped obtain for qualified Nigerians, majorly from Anambra.

On the story making the rounds that he was amongst the 34 senators who had not presented any bill on the floor of the Senate, Ngige urged the people to ignore such reports stating that it was the handiwork of his enemies who wanted to dent his credentials.

He challenged those propagating the story to go to the National Assembly and verify. On the said deportation of 14 Anambra citizens from Lagos to Anambra, Senator Ngige said that the controversy would not have arisen had the Anambra State Government lived up to expectation.

The senator said that on two occasions the Government of Babatunde Raji Fashola had written the Anambra State Government through its Lagos Liaison office asking it to come and identify her citizens whom the Lagos State Government had rehabilitated and wanted to relocate them back to their state of origin since they had no place to go and no relation to cater for them.

The Anambra State Government through its own Liaison office failed to identify or convey her own citizens from Lagos as other states like Akwa Ibom had done, citing lack of funding, this prompted the Lagos State Government to help convey them to Anambra with the understanding that there would be persons to receive them on behalf of the Anambra State Government.

He finally urged members of the party to take the gubernatorial election which was forthcoming as a serious exercise, saying that the party must do everything humanly possible to ensure victory for the APC come November 16 starting from monitoring the registration process,as AP would not allow those who stole he election mandate in 2010 to have a field day.
